Disney did not come to play this summer!

The children’s television network has always done an amazing job of keeping up their love for the old classic films that we Millinials can all remember, and it’s no different with their remake of ‘Aladdin.’

They have recently announced that they’d found their Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie for the live-action film, which will be coming to a theatre near us in 2018 or 2019.

These three cast members were announced at the D23 Expo just this past Saturday.

The network may have been having a little trouble searching for their star, Aladdin, for this remake of the popular 1992 film prior to D23 weekend, however, that couldn’t be said for their Jasmine and Genie.

Naomi Scott will be playing Princess Jasmine and the phenomenal Will Smith will be taking on the role of Genie.

Aladdin will be played by Hollywood newcomer Mena Massoud.

The original film was an animated movie that took a comic outlook on the Arabic folk tale of a young man that was granted three wishes by a genie, who was trapped in a lamp.

“Aladdin” was the highest-grossing film of the year in 1992, and won Academy Awards for best score and best song for “A Whole New World.”

Smith is a famous African American actor that got his start in the 80’s series ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,’ which is now a classic that will be watched for generations to come.

We are so happy that he will be taking part in this film and we will be going to see it as soon as it hits theatres.
