Soul Train line to Curtis Mayfield’s Get Down

Didn’t you love the Soul Train lines from back in the day?  If you were like we were, you were dancing along and couldn’t wait for American Band Stand to go off so you could check out the stuff you really wanted to see.

The most important thing to remember about Soul Train is that it was a great example of an awesome black business.  The creator of Soul Train, Don Cornelius, created the show in order to provide a platform for the most talented black artists to get the media exposure they deserved.  As a result, there were dozens of groups and performers you knew about that you never would have heard of before.

Cornelius was a fighter and an entrepeneur.  He took the plunge and quit his day job in the 1960s and became a DJ on WVON in Chicago.  After that, he was on his way to the top.

This is a video of the soul train line jamming to Curtis Mayfield.  Get up and dance if you’re feeling kinda funky today!

You can check it out here.
