The foundation of slavery in the United States is one that has been pushed under the rug for far too long. After 1619, when a Dutch ship first brought 20 Africans to the states at the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia, that was when slavery began to spread throughout the 13 American colonies and became apart of American history forever.
