Missing Black Man Found Stuffed In Barrel

Tips are what led Detroit police to one lot next to a vacant home on Greydale Street in the city’s west side area on the evening of July 7th. And, according to investigators, that is when they’d found a man’s body stuffed inside a barrel.

Police haven’t been able to identify the man yet or release any details of what could have possibly happened. However, they do believe that the body found is that of a beloved Detroit native, Doug Calhoun.

The leading tips came only hours after Crime Stoppers, as well as the family of the missing Marine, announced that they were planning to give a $6K reward to anyone that possibly had any information that could help them locate Mr. Calhoun.

“We want him back — we need him back. He has a big family that’s waiting for him, that needs him — we need him back in our life,” said Calhoun’s cousin, Diana Terry, during the press conference. “We need him to come home and cook for us.”

Calhoun had been missing since June of this year. He was 39-years-old, 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, medium complexion, black hair and brown eyes. The victim was last seen in the 3500 block of West Outer Drive in Detroit, only after coming back home from a night out with several friends, according to media reports from WXYZ. His vehicle was later found near Fenkell and Evergreen roads.

Once the family got word of the possible tip, they’d rushed to the scene to see if what they’d heard was true, and sadly, it was.

“We have had three or four search parties in this area,” said Judy Benford, Calhoun’s aunt.

However, there still isn’t any peace for the family because the body that was found is unidentifiable.

Investigators from the crime scene blocked off the entire area in search of several clues. This is something that could take days, as well as the medical examination, which could take time when trying to identify the body for the family.
