L.A. Reid Unexpectedly Fired From Epic Records After Six Years

Famous music executive, L.A. Reid is no longer working as the CEO of Epic Records. His departure only comes just weeks after Sony Music, which is the parenting company to Epic, named Rob Stringer as their new CEO.

Reid led the company to being one of the most highly respected labels in the music industry. Under his guidance, the label featured chart-topping artists such as famed musicians like Future, DJ Khaled, Travis Scott and a Tribe Called Quest.

The label also made their most recent history when Future released two No. 1 albums in the small timespan of only two weeks.

Mr. Reid’s departure is one that seems quite puzzling, considering that he’d brought major success to the label for the last 30 years. During his years at LaFace Records, he was responsible for helping to mold the careers of OutKast, TLC, Usher, and T.I. While at Island Def Jam, he worked with Rihanna, Kanye West, and appointed Jay Z as President of the label.

On the day that it had been announced that Reid was fired, Khaled took to his social media accounts to say, “We love you L.A. Reid!”

Sony still has yet to release a statement on the firing of Mr. Reid.
