John Burr invented the modern day lawn mower

In 1899, the lawn mower got the best make over ever, and it came from a Black man by the name of John Albert Burr.

Burr’s patent was an improved version of the lawn mower which had traction wheels and a rotary blade. It also allowed it’s user to cut grass closer to the edges of buildings.
