Hortense Ellis was known as Jamaica’s First Lady of Song

You may not be familiar with the name Hortense Ellis, but hearing her song, “I’m Still In Love With You Boy,” will make you pay attention to who she was.

Ellis was born on April 18, 1941 in Trenchtown, Kingston Jamaica. She was a respected reggae artist, and also the younger sister to Alton Ellis, who was the “Godfather of Rocksteady.”

Ellis’ well known song was made famous again by reggae artist Sean Paul in 2003.
