Frederick McKinley Jones invented one of the most important tools used in the trucking industry today—automatic refrigeration.
The automatic refrigeration system, or what is called the portable air-cooling unit, was designed for trucks that were carrying perishable foods long distances.
This portable air cooling unit was important during World War II as it preserved blood, medicine and food that were used during the war.
