Revolutionary poet Gil Scott-Heron was an African American soul and jazz poet, musician and author, who was best known primarily for his work as a famous spoken-word artist back in the 1970’s and 80’s.

He made a mark on the black community by speaking up for the rights of other African Americans through his poetic talents.
