According to one art publication, East Coast Renaissance, the beautiful mural of the late rapper Albert “Prodigy” Johnson, which was painted in his memory, has been permanently removed from it’s current location in Queens, New York, after unknown culprits have vandalized the property not once, but twice.

Just days ago, on July 8th, less than 24 hours after the mural was finished by Queens painter, Jeff Henriquez, it was found defaced by someone who’d splashed white paint all over it.

Henriquez, as well as his crew, came back and repaired the mural that exact same day, however, vandals came back the next day and defaced the mural again, this time with red paint.

The owner of the building, located in Queensbridge, has now decided that the vandalism is attracting too much negative attention and, in turn, they have chosen to have the memorial removed immediately. No word on whether they have a new location or not.

Wow. It’s so sad that a man can’t rest in peace, however, we are hopeful that the family of Prodigy is able to find peace in the midst of their situation.
