Coming back to America?

We are excited after receiving more news that Paramount Pictures has allegedly rehired the original writers of ‘Coming to America,’ Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, for their upcoming sequel of the iconic 80’s comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Though the potential of this film is still in early development stages, Kevin Misher has signed on to produce the sequel of the Eddie Murphy starred film.

There is still no word on whether Eddie Murphy will be present in the remake of the movie as Prince Akeem, who first came to New York City from Zumunda to find his wife and “soil his royal oats,” however, we sure are hopeful to see his face, as well as many other cast members that we could never forget.

Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones also starred in the John Landis–directed original. And Hall, 61, was able to take home an NAACP Image Award for his outstanding role as the Best Supporting Actor to the star, ‘Semmi.’

The film also won the 1988 Image Award for Outstanding Motion Picture.

We are hopeful that this comedic classic is turned into a sequel, however, it will be tough to make a sequel better than the original version because the film was so epic.

Comment your thoughts on this cinematic news below and tell us what you’re thinking. Should they remake the film? Or just leave it where it stands?
