Car Theft Leaves 6-Year-Old Boy Shot to Death

The decision that one mother made to leave her son in a running car outside of a Kroger supermarket has now resulted in nothing short of a tragedy.

Ebony Archie went into a grocery store, while her son, Kingston Archie, 6, slept in the backseat of her Toyota Camry.

During the time that she was inside the store, car thieves took that as an opportunity to steal her car.

Police were called to the scene and filed a report on her behalf, though she’d first failed to tell officers that her son was in the backseat. Once she’d finally informed police of the kidnapping, an amber alert was sent out and the Mississippi Highway Patrol became involved in trying to find the baby boy.

Unfortunately, the car was found and Kingston was also found in the backseat of the car with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are now three suspects in police custody. Madison-Rankin District Attorney Michael Guest said he planned to file capital murder charges against each of the three.

Dwan Diondro Wakefield, 17, of Ridgeland, has been taken into custody. He was a senior at Ridgeland High School, starting quarterback of the football team and labeled as a good kid.

Just last year he was kicked off the team, according to Superintendent Ronnie McGhee.

DeAllen Washington, 17, turned himself into the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department Thursday afternoon. Another suspect identified as Bryon McBride Jr. was taken into custody and transported to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department by the U.S. Marshals late Thursday.

Velma Eddington, Frazier’s great-aunt, stated to media ,”Everyone that was praying for us, that we would find Kingston alive, we want to thank everybody for that, but this is, really, this is, it’s hard to know that people out there are evil, that would kill a child. That’s evil. That baby hadn’t done anything to him. That baby hadn’t done anything. They could have left that child in that backseat, asleep. They didn’t have to kill him. Those people are evil. Evil. They need to find that other one before we find him…it’s evil what they did.”

We are sending our love and prayers to the family and friends of Kingston and hope that justice is served.
