So sad.

A teen suffering from a rare version of stage four cancer, who was lucky enough to FaceTime with singer Beyoncé as her last wish, has unfortunately passed away this past Saturday.

Ebony Banks’ dream was able to come true after classmates banned together and spread the word that she’d hoped to be able to talk to Beyoncé just once, with the hashtag #EBOBMEETSBEYONCE via social media. They’d successfully made her dream come true by getting her a one-on-one conversation with the famous singer.

“Beyoncé is one of her idols. She admires her so much, so we’re trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyoncé’s attention,” high school student Karina Gutierrez told KTRK-TV.

Cristal Depaz also added, “We try to make sure she has a smile on her face and to make her wishes come true.” Beyoncé caught wind of the campaign and called Ebony to tell her, “I love you.” Ebony spent the majority of her senior year of high school at the MD Anderson Cancer Center.

A vigil was held just this past Sunday, March 26th, and the students celebrated Ebony’s life by singing Beyoncé’s hit song, ‘Halo.’ Earlier in the month Ebony’s close family and friends held an early graduation ceremony in honor of her.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ebony’s friends and family during this trying time.

Comment your well-wishes and condolences.
