1957 Recording of Shirley Bassey singing St. Louis Blues

Come here and learn a little bit of musical history.

Shirley Bassey is a British singer who was born on January 8, 1937.  Her impressive career spanned over 60 years and she was once called “one of the most popular female vocalists in Britain during the last half of the 20th century.”

In the US, however, she is known for recording the theme songs to the James Bond film franchises.  Her song, “Diamonds Are Forever,” was sampled by Kanye West.

Here is a rare recording of the songstress singing St. Louis Blues when she was only 20 years old.
